Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Daughter delivers meals to her father

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated every fall from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. We’re proud to join Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio (CLUES) Saturday, Sept. 13, at Fiesta Latina to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month.

Fiesta Latina is a free, family-friendly community festival celebrating Latino heritage through arts, health and wellness, food, and entertainment. You can learn more about the event and view the schedule here. We will be there to share information about Meals on Wheels and offer fun prizes to attendees who play our Plinko game.

Another way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month is by supporting Latino- or Hispanic-owned businesses in the Twin Cities. Check out this great list of local businesses compiled by Meet Minneapolis.

Latino-focused meals among our cultural options

Through our kitchen partnership with Open Arms of Minnesota, we’re able to offer a menu based on Latin American flavors, as well as an Asian-inspired menu. We also have partnerships with Asian Flame Catering to provide a traditional Hmong menu and Parrilla mediterránea Oasis to offer East African-inspired Halal dishes.

Additionally our partner program Al-Maa'uun offers a Halal menu focused on American Soul Food options and SEWA-AIFW delivers South Asian cuisine to older adults in the Twin Cities. We also work with Servicio Judío de la Familia de San Pablo to connect people with kosher meals. All cultural meal options are Disponible a través de nuestro sitio web. Our website is available in English, Hmong, Somali and Spanish and our staff can help anyone who speaks those languages with questions or enrolling for service at 612-623-3363.
