Volunteer Opportunity: Holiday Season Office Volunteer

Mellisa, a Meals on Wheels office volunteer

Join the community of people making healthy and independent lives possible for local seniors and people with disabilities. Metro Meals on Wheels is looking for a office volunteer for the holiday season.

This position is perfect for someone who prefers to work behind the scenes but still wants to play a big role in helping us during our busiest part of the year. We are looking for someone who is able to volunteer at least 2 hours per week for three months, ideally November – January. Hours can be scheduled Monday-Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Job Duties and Qualifications

The main duty of this position would be entering donations into our donation database, as the end of the year is the most popular time for giving. The office volunteer would also create and process donor thank you letters and work on other data-entry projects. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, have the ability to operate a computer and basic software, and must possess the desire and ability to learn new skills. This position also requires reliable transportation to our office in downtown Minneapolis — free parking lot available.

Why Should I Volunteer?

By becoming a office volunteer you will gain valuable insight and experience in the nonprofit sector, which could be added to a resume. After three months of service we will provide you with a letter of reference. Another perk about volunteering in the Meals on Wheels office is that you will be supporting our efforts to provide seniors and people with disabilities with nutritious food and human connection so they can stay independent in their homes.
