Vaccination information for Meals on Wheels recipients and volunteers

Minnesota Vaccine Logo

As COVID-19 vaccination efforts continue in Minnesota, your best resource for the most current information on who is eligible and where to find vaccines is the state of Minnesota’s vaccination website

If you haven’t already, you can also sign up with the state’s Vaccine Connector that will notify you when you are eligible to receive a vaccination. Additional ways that you may be able to make an appointment include your local health department, doctor, pharmacy or employer.

Additional information for meal recipients

Many Meals on Wheels recipients are now eligible for vaccines due to their age or underlying health conditions. If you or a loved one is eligible, but don’t have a safe transportation option to get to an appointment, the Senior Linkage Line can help at 1-800-333-2433. If you have additional questions about the vaccine and it’s safety, please check out this information sheet from the University of Minnesota School of Pharmacy.

Additional information for volunteers

Meals on Wheels volunteers are included as essential workers under charitable food groups. Meals on Wheels volunteers may use the following instructions when filling out the Vaccine Connector to be classified as essential workers: Answer “Food Service” for industry, “Volunteer” or your job title for job title, and “Meals on Wheels” for the employer. Ask your local volunteer site where you pick up the meals to be delivered for a document that proves your status as a Meals on Wheels volunteer.
