What to Expect at Our 2022 Meals on Heels Event

Meals on Heels guest plays Spin the Bottle

Meals on Heels is back and better than ever after a two-year hiatus! Join us on Thursday, August 11th, for a night of food, fun, and fashion! With ten great local restaurants joining, a new event venue in lively Northeast Minneapolis – The Whim – and a raffle and auction jam-packed with great items, we can’t wait for this year’s event. And the best part is that 100% of the proceeds support people who get Meals on Wheels in the Twin Cities!

If you haven’t purchased Meals on Heels 2022 tickets, now’s the time.

If you’re new to the event, read on for everything you need to know! There are also a few exciting new twists for all you returning guests!

What’s with the name?

Meals on Heels began as an event where attendees could have fun with fashionable footwear while supporting Meals on Wheels – and the name was a logical fit. The Swank Soles Competition crowns the most fashion-forward and imaginable footwear in two divisions: Individual and Group.

New this year: we’ve decided to cut the gendered categories from our competition. All are welcome to participate in whatever shoes make you feel The Swankiest! This brings us to the next question…

Do I have to wear heels?

No! “Heels” is used broadly here. Pick the style you think looks best on you! Heels and fancy shoes are not required to attend Meals on Heels – but we believe it makes the evening that much more fun. All are welcome to wear store-bought shoes or get crafty and DIY your own pair of Swank Soles. This is a friendly competition, and attendees are not required to participate.

What’s the food situation?

It’s an over-the-top selection of delectability from 10 great local restaurants! From vegan fried chicken (Herbie Butcher’s Fried Chicken) to scientifically hand-crafted ice cream (Sweet Science Ice Cream) and all of the authentic tortillas (Nixta) and collard greens in between (The Fabled Rooster), this restaurant lineup has you covered.

How about drinks?

General admission tickets include two drink tickets for hosted beer, wine, cocktails, and several NA beverage choices. Additional drinks can be purchased at the cash bar. For VIP ticket holders, hosted beverages are unlimited.

Is there a raffle? Auctions? More?

Meals on Heels has become known for its raffle, and this year’s prizes are out of control. We’ll also have a Live Auction and the return of crowd-favorite Spin the Bottle! We’ve got gift cards and swag from local restaurants and breweries, passes for activities like golfing and bowling, admission tickets to local museums, and even State Fair tickets to give away as prizes! And so much more! Check out the full list of what’s available.

New this year: Trivia Mafia!

We’re thrilled to welcome Chuck Terhark, co-founder of Trivia Mafia, as our Meals on Heels 2022 Host! In addition to emceeing our program and Swank Soles Competition, Chuck will host a special Meals on Wheels-themed game of Trivia Mafia. The game will be played via phone app in teams or individually, and yes, there will be prizes (and bragging rights!) awarded to the winning team.

How should I get there?

We recommend public transit, taxi, and ride-share apps for maximum and safe enjoyment of all the event has to offer. If you plan on driving, Uptown Valet is ready to treat you with easy and convenient valet services for parking at the venue. Guests are also welcome to utilize neighborhood street parking

Are there any COVID-19 precautions in place?

Yes! Meals on Wheels requires proof of a full course of COVID-19 vaccination (and booster if applicable) OR a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 48 hours prior to the event. This simple measure helps minimize risk and the spread of the virus, enhancing the safety of our guests, staff, and volunteers.

For full details, please read our complete COVID Policy.

Sounds great, but I don’t have tickets. Where do I get them?

Get them online until the day before the event! Tickets will also be available at the door.
