How you can include a local senior on your shopping list this year
Did you know that when you’re out and about doing your holiday shopping, you can pick up a gift for a local senior in need? And the process of getting that gift to a local senior couldn’t be easier thanks to Gifts for Seniors.
Gifts for Seniors is a local nonprofit that has teamed up with Meals on Wheels again this year to deliver holiday gifts to isolated seniors. Just like Meals on Wheels helps bring nutrition and social interaction to recipients, Gifts for Seniors’ mission is to ensure that local seniors get to share in the joy of the holiday season.
Whether it’s a new microwave, some comfy socks or a winter blanket, a small gift can go a long way for someone who might face difficulties leaving the house and may not have family in the area. Because Meals on Wheels volunteers are already out delivering meals to a lot of people in this situation, Gifts for Seniors has partnered with many of our delivery sites to help thoughtful gifts find good homes.
How you can help
Gifts for Seniors makes buying gifts for recipients easy. First, check out their wish list for the most requested gift items. Then, drop the items you buy off at a gift barrel near you. Gifts for Seniors will take care of the rest.
Prefer shopping online? You can do that too! Gifts for Seniors offers an online catalog for some of its most requested items that you can purchase from the comfort of your home.
We’re thankful for organizations like Gifts for Seniors, as well as our regular volunteers, who help relieve social isolation for local seniors.
