New volunteer opportunities at the Kitchen of Opportunities

A Kitchen of Opportunities volunteer helps pack meals

We’re excited to announce a new way to volunteer with Meals on Wheels: We’re looking for volunteers to help prepare meals for delivery at the Meals on Wheels Kitchen of Opportunities.

The Kitchen of Opportunities is the first kitchen dedicated to serving Meals on Wheels recipients in the Twin Cities. As the kitchen expands, we’re looking for volunteers to help package the meals that will be shipped out to neighborhood delivery sites.

Kitchen volunteers assist with packaging meal into the delivery trays and other tasks such as wrapping or packaging side items such as rolls or muffins. If you want to volunteer in a fun and collaborative environment and get a firsthand look at how the meals get made at the Kitchen of Opportunities, this is a great opportunity for you!

If driving isn’t for you, this is also a great way for you to play a part in bringing nutritious meals to people who get Meals on Wheels. The Kitchen of Opportunities is located at 3025 4th Ave. S., in Minneapolis, which is on or near bus lines 11, 21 and 27.

Volunteers can sign up for a shift that’s 1.5 to 2 hours long and shifts are available 8 a.m-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. Groups of up to four people can be accommodated for each shift.

If you’d like to volunteer at the Kitchen of Opportunities, please complete this form. If you have any questions call 612-623-3363.
