Metro Meals on Wheels Fiscal Year 2026 Annual Report

Each day, thousands of seniors in the Twin Cities can count on one thing: a fresh, nutritious meal delivered by a friendly volunteer.

As we look back at our last fiscal year in our 2026 Annual Report, it’s clear that the Twin Cities community cares about their senior neighbors. With food costs rising and more people struggling to make ends meet, the assurance of a nutritious daily meal matters more than ever. At the same time, declining government support makes it harder for Meals on Wheels programs to meet this need.

The generosity of everyone who supports Meals on Wheels helps close that gap, ensuring that older adults continue receiving the meals and support they depend on. With the help of our wonderful community, our network of Twin Cities Meals on Wheels programs delivered more than 1.5 million meals to older adults and people with disabilities last year.

“Meals on Wheels has been a godsend. My mobility has decreased so it makes it difficult to cook a meal with all the food groups included. With Meals on Wheels, I can still get a good meal every day.”
-Meal recipient in St. Paul

Last year, Twin Cities Meals on Wheels programs delivered 1,527 meals to 8,995 recipients.

Meals on Wheels provides more than nutrition. About 70% of meal recipients live alone and many of them have mobility challenges that make getting out of the house difficult.

Last year, more than 9,000 volunteers gave their time to bring meals to their neighbors. About half of meal recipients say the delivery volunteer is sometimes the only person they see on a given day. Volunteer visits are invaluable to those who are struggling with loneliness or social isolation.

“The people who deliver the meals are always very friendly and cheerful. It makes my day
seeing them.”

9,312 volunteers deliver 228 routes each day. 10,451 donors helped provide meals for neighbors in need.

To everyone who supported Meals on Wheels in the past year with a gift of your time or financial support: We cannot thank you enough. Because of you, older adults and people with disabilities in our community can count on nutritious meals, friendly visits, and the reassurance that their neighbors are looking out for them.
