Have new nutritional needs or goals? Meals on Wheels can help!
Whether you have new health goals in mind or are managing a medical condition that requires a special diet, Meals on Wheels can be part of your nutrition plans for the new year. All of our meals are planned by registered dietitians to ensure they are balanced and healthy, and they meet heart-healthy and diabetic-friendly guidelines. We also offer a variety of menus for specific medical diets.
Meals are prepared at a local kitchen using fresh ingredients. Our daily menu offers something different every day of the month and rotates frequently. Our menus are ideal for those seeking low-sugar and low-sodium meal plans or if you’re just looking to stick to a more balanced diet.
Meals are delivered ready-to-eat at lunchtime by a friendly volunteer. We also have a weekly frozen menu to help accommodate preferences and needs.
Heart-healthy meals
Meals on Wheels menus are formulated with heart-healthy diets in mind. Dietitians monitor levels of saturated fat, sodium and added sugars, and ensure meals contain recommended amounts of fruits, vegetables and fiber. Learn more about a heart-healthy diet as it relates to our meals.
Diabetic-friendly meals
Our regular menu is also diabetic-friendly. Dieticians build menus that are designed to help those living with diabetes manage blood sugar levels.
Renal meals
Meals on Wheels programs also offer renal meals which are kidney friendly for those on dialysis or living with a chronic kidney disease. Simply let us know that you are in need of renal meals or a kidney disease meal plan when you enroll for service.
Mechanical soft and pureed
Our meals can also be adjusted for those needing mechanical soft or pureed diets due to difficulty chewing or swallowing food. This need can also be noted at the time you enroll.
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free meals
If you follow a vegetarian or vegan diet, or are dairy- or gluten-free, Meals on Wheels can also accommodate your needs and tastes. Our frozen menu offers a number of options in each of these categories and you can also note your dietary needs and preferences if you’re receiving daily meals.
